A DAY IN MY ROLE

As a Halifax Mortgage Adviser, my responsibilities are to provide advice to customers about their mortgage, by either reviewing their existing mortgage or helping new customers onto the property ladder for the first time. I always aim to provide customers with excellent service. I organise weekly team huddles to get the team set for the week ahead and try encouraging everyone to share their good news stories.

WHY HALIFAX

I started with the company over three years ago and in this time have worked in three different roles. I’m now working as a qualified Mortgage Adviser.  I think this shows career progression within the company is possible. The attraction to work in banking and for the Halifax was to try and progress my career forwards and really find a role that helped me achieve my goals.

WHY I HAVE A ROLE THAT MATTERS

I feel that my current role is extremely rewarding as we’re almost handing the keys over to our customers. We provide them with the mortgage to set them up for the future. Whilst working for the bank I have had the opportunity to work with some great colleagues, all willing to make the difference within the community and offering support in charity events.

PREPARING TO JOIN

If you’re willing to commit your time to help customers with their mortgage questions and really put them at the heart of what you do, you’ll really enjoy the role. You have to have a can-do attitude and be committed to spending time following an interview to complete the case reports for each customer. Then to be the contact person for your customer from beginning to end as mortgages at times can be quite confusing. I’d definitely say be prepared, start by completing a key course for a Mortgage Advisor, a CeMAP ® course, which really gets the ball rolling and is essential to do the role.
