Colleague Engagement Manager                                Group Sourcing

Your current role

My current role is Colleague Engagement Manager within Group Sourcing. I am responsible for the oversight and delivery of all Group Sourcing communications internally to colleagues and externally to the Group’s Suppliers. I also lead the delivery of ‘People’ activities on behalf of Group Sourcing including recognition, events (such as conferences, monthly live meetings and quarterly change sessions)  and colleague survey results action planning – basically all the activities that strive towards making Lloyds Banking Group a great place to work for colleagues.

Prior to joining Group Sourcing I undertook a number of roles in the Retail division including HR Change Manager, Operations Support Manager and Internal Communications Manager.

Why is Group Sourcing a great place to work?

Group Sourcing plays a pivotal role in helping Lloyds Banking Group become the best bank for customers. The core purpose of our business unit is to identify the most suitable suppliers to support our business needs.

I have only been in the Sourcing team for a few months and it’s a fantastic part of the business to work in. You get insight into what goes on in the background to improve the customer experience. The scope and breadth of the services procured in Group Sourcing is vast and ranges from the IT kit we utilise to the stock in the vending machines. It’s definitely an interesting part of the business – the decisions made here impact all the Groups colleagues.

My role is predominately about making Lloyds Banking Group a great place to work for colleagues. This includes engaging and supporting them through changes that will have a direct impact on their day to day roles, to getting them on board with wider Group strategic initiatives including our partnership with BBC Children in Need.

As I own the Group Sourcing People Plan I analyse colleague feedback from regular forums and surveys to create action plans on the key areas that matter most to them. This means we can continue to make sure our colleagues are engaged with the Group strategy, understand how the company is performing and have the opportunity to build long, stretching careers with the Bank. I absolutely believe that my role champions one of  the Groups values of 'Making a Difference together!'

Morning: In the office just before 8am - Log on, check emails and my schedule for the day.

Quick call with my line manager to cover off urgent actions and obtain sign off for activities where required

Start working on the Virtual Conference event slide deck, collating imagery, audio and text and transferring this onto company templates

Meeting with key business stakeholders to discuss future internal communications intent and content for review by the executive team. Following this meeting I’ll prepare the supporting meeting papers and circulate to the leadership team.

Definitely time to grab a coffee, whilst trying to avoid the numerous cake bakes in the office on my way to the in house Starbucks… my waistline cannot cope with all the treats!

Meeting via Video link with Virtual Conference presenters and the internal communications team to finalise scripts and content. Depending on the decisions we make I may need to liaise with our internal Video Conferencing Team for guidance on IT capability to ensure content is streamed successfully on the day.

Lunch: Grab something to eat and a catch up with the gossip magazines.

Afternoon: Check emails, voicemails and respond to important requests.

Dial into the divisional monthly internal communications call to receive key updates on future internal campaigns and initiatives. We also use this call to share best practice amongst colleagues in similar roles in other business areas.

Catch up with the Group Operations Building the Best Team committee to discuss recent colleague survey results and start developing local engagement action plans

Final check of emails and voicemails before logging off for the day.

Home time: Leave the office so I can get to the gym for Metafit, then finally home to the Sky Planner and whatever 9pm drama is currently on the TV.
