Growing confidence in the current economic situation drives sentiment higher in April

  • Consumer sentiment reaches record equalling high of 109 in April.
  • Growing confidence in the current situation helps to drive the index up during the month.
  • Spending on essential items continues to grow broadly in line with inflation at 2.5%.
  • Annual spending growth on utility bills increased during the month, and four in five (80%) consumers are now concerned about the effect of inflation on bills in the coming months.
