Spending power falls as many consumers expect further squeeze post-Budget

  • Spending power fell back for the second consecutive month in February.
  • Growth in spending on food and drink ticked up in February, reaching its highest level for six months.
  • Consumer sentiment towards the wider economy remains depressed but continues to gradually improve.
  • More than half of consumers (55%) believe the Chancellor’s Budget will leave them with less money to spend each month.
